In a world where business is increasingly conducted through screens and digital platforms, Nina Heck stands as a refreshing reminder that the most powerful tool in any professional's arsenal is still the human connection. With over 40 years of experience in public relations, advertising, and marketing, this St. George resident has built her career—and her life—around a simple philosophy: "The most important things in life are the relationships we create."

From Handshakes to Hugs

Nina's approach to business is distinctly personal. "I'm the kind of person who prefers to conduct business with a hug rather than a handshake," she explains, a philosophy that has served her well throughout her impressive career. Since founding Oh My Heck Marketing, Inc. in 2005, she has dedicated herself to helping local businesses succeed while strengthening the fabric of the Southern Utah community she calls home. Her commitment to building community connections also led her to become one of the founders of St. George Word of Mouth, further cementing her role as a champion for local businesses and community engagement.

Her professional achievements speak volumes about the effectiveness of her relationship-centered approach. For over five years, Nina ranked #1 nationally in top sales for American Classifieds, earning her peers' recognition as Salesperson of the Year for four consecutive years. Her dedication to clients was so exceptional that she earned more commendation letters than any other salesperson in the nation.

A Heart for Service and Community

Since moving to St. George in 2001, Nina has become deeply woven into the community's tapestry. Her involvement spans numerous organizations and causes, reflecting her commitment to the "neighbors helping neighbors" spirit that defines Southern Utah.

Currently serving on the Board of Directors for Memory Matters, Nina is also an active member of both the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce as a Sunshiner and the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce as a Warrior. Her leadership experience includes two terms on the St. George Chamber Board of Directors, service on the Leadership Dixie Board, and roles as both Past State President and local president of Utah Business Women.

One of her most enduring contributions has been coordinating the Huntsman World Senior Games Parade of Athletes for 13 years, along with her annual volunteer work for events like the St. George Marathon and Ironman competitions.

Personal Passion Drives Professional Purpose

Nina's commitment to service extends far beyond professional networking. A significant part of her journey includes her proficiency in sign language, inspired by her son Joshua, who was born deaf. This personal experience sparked a lifelong commitment to assisting the hearing impaired community, demonstrating how personal challenges can become catalysts for broader community service.

At home, Nina and her husband Mike have created a loving environment for their large, blended family of seven boys, one girl, and 24 grandchildren. Over the years, they have also opened their hearts and home as foster parents, further exemplifying their dedication to caring for others.

Recognition and Remarkable Achievements

Nina's contributions have not gone unnoticed. In 2009, she was honored as the elan Woman by elan Woman Magazine, followed by being named Woman of the Year by BPW/UBW in 2010. Her career highlights also include playing a key role in organizing Adventure 99, a major consumer retail show at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City in 1999.

When she's not working or volunteering, Nina enjoys an adventurous array of hobbies including traveling (especially cruising), snorkeling, boating, hiking, jewelry making, and embroidering for her business. Perhaps most surprisingly, she once competed professionally in arm wrestling—yet another example of her willingness to embrace new challenges and connect with diverse communities.

Building Tomorrow's Connections

As Nina continues her work through Oh My Heck Marketing, her focus remains steadfast on helping businesses succeed while supporting the community that has become her true home. Her four decades of experience have taught her that in an increasingly digital world, the fundamentals of good business remain unchanged: genuine relationships, dedicated service, and a commitment to lifting others.

"I love getting involved, supporting local causes, and cherishing the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors," Nina reflects. In a community known for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation, Nina Heck represents something equally valuable—the enduring power of human connection and the difference one person can make when they choose to serve others.

For local businesses looking to build meaningful connections with their community, Nina's story serves as both inspiration and roadmap. In her hands, marketing isn't just about promoting products or services—it's about building the relationships that make communities thrive.
